ITANAGAR, Aug 22:In yet another embarrassment for law enforcement, two IRBN personnel were arrested by the Itanagar Police in connection to a robbery attempt and vandalising an ATM located at Ganga in the state capital.

The arrestees have been identified as Tage Somi, 29, hailing from Mudang Tage Village of Ziro and Chow Libata Mantow, 27, of Piyong village under Namsai District. Both of them belong to the 1st IRBN of D. Company and were deployed at NEEPCO Hoj for law and order duty.

Police source informed that, on the night of July 7 last the duo had damaged the ATM badly with a motive to steal money but could not succeed. They also tried to lift the machine but failed to do so. As per the report there was cash amounting to Rs 23,98,700 inside the ATM at the time of the incident.

SP Capital Dr. A Koan, disclosed that a case has been registered at Itanagar Police station case No 190/17 U/S 427 IPC RW section 3 of PDPP act on  July 31 last after a complaint from the Company Executive that deals with installation and maintenance and operation of the ATM. After thorough investigation of the case and clue from the CCTV footage of the ATM, the duo was arrested.

On August 16 last, Itanagar Police arrested Chow Libata Mantow from PTC Banderdewa and produced him before the Chief Judicial Magistrate on August 17 last. The other accused Tage Somi surrendered himself on August 2o last.
