ITANAGAR, Dec 10: At least 400 young boys and girls took part in the selection trial athletics event held here today at Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy Ground, Chimpu organized by the National Yuva Cooperative Society under GAIL-Indian speedstar project.
Screening team has selected 19 athletes on the spot for zonal trials which will be conducted in February next.
The GAIL-Indian speedstar project, supported by GAIL (India) Limited is being executed pan India by the National Yuva Cooperative Society among the age group of11-17 years in 100m, 200m and 400m track events. National Yuva Cooperative Society has tied up with M/s Anglian Medal Hunt Company as its technical partner for the project.
Speaking at the inaugural as chief guest, Head of Department Physical Education, Rajiv Gandhi University, Dr. Milli exhorted participants to give time to sports along with their studies.
‘Nowadays sport is not limited to good health alone but has good career scope also,’ he asserted expressing gratitude to NYCS for organizing the event in Arunachal Pradesh.
