ITANAGAR, Jul 28:  In a joint statement released today, the Youth Congress Presidents of the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Manipur have condemned the ever increasing incidents of aggression displayed in the past few years by the Assam government against its neighbours.
Civilians residing at the bordering states of Assam are bearing the brunt of these aggressions and their farm lands, crops and infrastructures are being damaged by the Assam Police, the Youth Congress Presidents alleged, contending that these incidents are causing a lot of ill-feeling amongst the people of the Northeast, resulting in disunity and disharmony among the people in the region. Escalation of tension shows the total failure of the BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) and the ensuing situations have proved yet again that the alliance was never created for the true development and unity of the Northeast states, the statement read, adding that it's only intention is to grab political power by any means.
“We condemn the actions of the CM of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma for his continuous efforts to inflame the situation and his repeated attempts to malign the neighbouring states. In fact, under his chief ministership, situation has deteriorated and the Assam administration is responsible for the repeated  incidents of unprovoked aggression. We reiterate that he is solely responsible for worsening of tension between the Northeast states,” the joint statement said while seeking immediate removal of Sarma from the position of the Chief Minister of Assam by the BJP central leadership.
