Itanagar, May 15: Dr. Joram Aniya, member, NITI Aayog called on the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt Gen KT Parnaik, (Retd.) at Lok Bhavan, Itanagar, on Friday.
The Governor congratulated Dr. Aniya on her appointment to NITI Aayog, the apex public policy think tank of the Government of India. He expressed confidence that she would make valuable contributions towards the economic development of both the nation and Arunachal Pradesh through inclusive and people-centric policymaking.
The Governor highlighted that Arunachal Pradesh has unique challenges due to its difficult terrain, sparse population, and rich cultural diversity. He said that development parameters used for the plains and other States should not be applied uniformly to hill States like Arunachal Pradesh.
The Governor also emphasized the strategic importance of Arunachal Pradesh and its immense potential in hydropower, tourism, environmental conservation, and cultural heritage. He said that these strengths make the State deserving of special focus and priority in national planning and development initiatives.
