Namsai, Aug 19 : The Handicrafts Service Centre, Itanagar, under the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, organised the Nationwide Chaupal (Aspirational) Programme at Townclub, Namsai, to create awareness among artisans in aspirational districts. The programme saw participation from local artisans, craftspersons and Self Help Group members.
Officials briefed participants on various schemes of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), including skill development, design and technology upgradation, marketing support, Artisan ID Cards and credit facilities, and encouraged the adoption of innovative designs while preserving traditional crafts. The role of SHGs in promoting livelihoods was also highlighted.
Artisans raised issues related to raw materials, finance and marketing and were provided guidance on registration and scheme benefits.
