ES ReporterITANAGAR, Sep 4: The Apatani Youth Association on Tuesday extended its full support for upgradation of the Advance Landing Ground (ALG) at Ziro and said that it is always ready to provide additional land for extending the airport for civilian purpose also.
This was announced by Chief Advisor to the Association, Taku Chatung in a press conference on Tuesday. The Advance Landing Ground at Ziro is among the 7 operational defence extensions in the state which was launched in 2016.
Informing that on 21 August 2016, it had submitted a memorandum to the state government seeking construction of a civil terminal to handle logistics and air services; it asked the concerned authority to consider their demands for a civil terminal at the ALG.
In this connection, Chatung informed that the association had also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Secretary while citing the shortcomings and possibilities of finalizing their demands.
 “Government will soon start a rotary (Helicopter) type of aircraft service under the UDAAN-2 Scheme. It is welcomed step from government and we are ready to convince the people if the government wants to extend the airbase for introducing commercial air service," he assured.
