Naharlagun, Apr 25: The National Center for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC), Department of Health Services, observed World Malaria Day 2025 at the DHS office, Naharlagun, with the theme ‘Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite’.
Addressing the gathering, Mum Lego, State IEC Consultant, NCVBDC, emphasized the importance of awareness and community participation in malaria prevention.
Delivering the keynote message, Dr. K.T. Mulung, Deputy Director of Health Services-cum-State Programme Officer (DDHS-cum-SPO), NCVBDC, highlighted a major milestone in the state’s malaria elimination journey. He proudly announced that 16 out of Arunachal Pradesh’s 27 districts have been declared malaria-free, marking significant progress in the state’s public health achievements. These malaria-free districts include:Tawang ,West Kameng, East Kameng, Pakke Kessang, Lower Subansiri, Kra Daadi, Kurung Kumey, Kamle, Upper Subansiri, Dibang Valley, Anjaw, East Siang, Siang, Namsai, Longding, Lower Siang, Lower Diabng valley.
Dr. Mulung commended the tireless efforts of health workers, community volunteers, and field staff who have made this possible. He reiterated the department’s commitment to achieving a malaria-free Arunachal Pradesh by 2027.
As part of the observance, a Pledge and slogan on Malaria was led by Dr. Rikken Rina, Director of Health Services, in which all attendees pledged their dedication to the continued fight against malaria.
A short video presentation on malaria was also screened, showcasing impactful stories.
