ZIRO, Oct 9 : The Department of Geography, Saint Claret College (Autonomous), Ziro (SCCZ), organised a one-day workshop on “Exploring Socio-Ecological Drivers and Impacts of Landscape Adaptation” on Friday at the college auditorium. The workshop was sponsored by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Itanagar.
Around 100 participants attended the workshop, including representatives of various local civil society organisations and Self-Help Groups (SHGs), along with faculty members, students and other stakeholders.
The workshop focused on deliberations on the interconnections between ecological conditions, cultural values, agricultural practices, livelihoods and climate resilience, with an emphasis on sustainable landscape management and rural development.
Dr. Lalit Maurya, District Development Manager (DDM), NABARD, Itanagar, who attended the programme as the Chief Guest spoke on “NABARD for Climate Change: Enabling a Resilient and Sustainable Rural Economy,” and stressed on the role of rural development initiatives in addressing climate-related challenges and promoting sustainability.
During the technical session, Shri. Hibu Dante, District Horticulture Officer, delivered a session on “Growing Resilience, Nurturing Livelihoods through Horticulture”. In his session, he highlighted the relevance of horticulture to livelihood development and resilience. 
Koj Mama, President of the Arunachal Pradesh Birding Club, led a session on “Cultural Values and Landscape Setting”. He focussed on the cultural dimensions of human relationships with landscapes.
Dr. Hage Munth, Senior Scientist and Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), also spoke on “Soil Health for Sustainable Landscapes and Livelihoods”. She deliberated on the importance of soil health in sustaining agricultural productivity, landscapes and community livelihoods and gave guidance on how to sustained agricultural productivity. 
The interactive discussion of the technical sessions, brought up the various socio-ecological factors that influenced landscape adaptation and its environmental, social and economic impacts, which the experts addressed and gave their valuable suggestions to the participants.
