TAWANG, Jul 31:  One-day awareness cum sensitization programme for women of Tawang district was held today at the DC’s office here.

 On the occasion, advocate Tsering Norbu spoke at length on various provisions under the 'Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005' and 'Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2013’.

CDPO Tawang, Dondup Pema also enlightened the participants on various women-centric schemes rolled out by the Central and state governments viz. Pradhan Mantri Matru Vanadana Yojana, Dulari Kanya Scheme, Poshan Abhiyan and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. 

Reiterating the role of women in raising a family in particular and in the development of society as a whole, Nawang Yuton, a social worker cum chairman of the District Local Complaint Committee under the 'Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act', requested women to come out and participate in all activities being undertaken for their empowerment. 

The programme was attended by various NGOs including Women’s Welfare Association, Tawang and lady officers of various departments.
