AALO, Jun, 7:Commemorating the world environment day on Tuesday, the Aalo Forest Division also observed the special day by organizing awareness programme with a theme “connecting people with nature”  to exhort common people as well as government officials to take positive environmental action to protect nature and planet earth.

 The two day long programme was conducted in collaboration with army, Police and district administration on June 5 and 6 last, wherein people from all walks of life participated in plantation drive at the army headquarters, APBN, ADC office complex at Kamba.
Participating in the programme, Deputy Commissioner West Siang Gamli Padu, highlighted on the forest degradation trend in West Siang district, importance of a cleaner environment and also mentioned that the District administration is always ready to cooperate with the Forest Department in every aspect.

DFO, Abhinav Kumar briefed on the importance of observing the World Environment Day and appealed people not to look at the forest only from economic value but to think beyond it. He also explained about the ecological services provided by forest and environment and how the entire humanity is dependent on it.

ADC , Swetika Sachan spoke on the importance of saving wildlife, maintaining a healthy environment and encouraged the Gaon Burahs and local people to come forward in this regard. Further Gaon Burahs and other stakeholders especially the local people expressed their willingness to join hands with the Forest Department in management of a healthy forest and environment.
