Naharlagun, Aug 8: In the wake of rising reports of child sexual abuse in childcare institutions nationwide, Commissioner Gamli Padu, and Director, Women and Child Development Department, TP Loyi, inspected childcare institutions (CCIs) run by Oju Welfare Association and Missionaries of Charity here today.
They interacted with the children and staff of both the CCIs, which are registered under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and are providing temporary shelter, food, counseling, vocational training and schooling to children in need of care and protection as per the provisions of the Act.
They also visited Specialised Adoption Agency (SAA), Swadhar Greh and Women Helpline (WHL) run by Oju Welfare Association at Naharlagun and expressed their satisfaction regarding the management of the institutions.
