NIRJULI, Mar 13: In a significant step towards youth empowerment and self-employment, the Minister for Agriculture and Allied, etc.,  Gabriel D. Wangsu  has launched the ‘Catch Them Young’ Skill Training Programme for Educated Unemployed Youths and Farmers. The initiative, announced under the state budget for 2024-25, focuses on skill development in livestock and poultry husbandry to create self-sustaining employment opportunities.
The programme was inaugurated today at the Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary & Dairy Development (AHV&DD) in Nirjuli.
Addressing the trainees, Minister Wangsu encouraged them to stay committed to their goals and emphasized that while government jobs cannot be provided to everyone, the administration is committed to supporting youth through technical training and subsidy schemes in agriculture and allied sectors. He urged the trainees to become pioneers in livestock farming and contribute to the economic growth of the state.
The ‘Catch Them Young’ initiative has selected 150 educated unemployed youths, ensuring representation from every legislative constituency. The 15-day training programme will be conducted in batches of 30 participants, covering four key trades: Dairy Husbandry, Pig Husbandry, Goat Husbandry, and Poultry Husbandry. The training integrates classroom-based theoretical learning with hands-on practical sessions at departmental livestock and poultry farms. Additionally, participants will visit other northeastern states to gain exposure to advanced practices in animal husbandry.
Upon successful completion, each trainee will receive a certification, which will serve as a preferred qualification for selection under various government subsidy schemes in the livestock sector. The goal is to enable participants to establish their own enterprises, fostering economic self-reliance and sustainable growth in Arunachal Pradesh.
Among others, dignitaries, including Hage Tari, IOFS (Secretary, AHV&DD and Fisheries), Dr. Danjan Longri (Director, AHV&DD),  Dani Yube (Director, Agriculture), and Nighee Bengia (Joint Secretary, AHV&DD).  Komkar Dulom (Director, Disaster Management) and Neelam Rani, a progressive farmer from Papum Pare, also attended as Resource person.
