ITANAGAR, Jun 3:

The Arunachal University of Studies is going to introduce (bachelor of Arts ) BA in Buddhist studies under faculty of arts and social sciences from this year and planning to add master’s degree subsequently, this was informed by (AUS), Vice Chancellor Prof VK Kwatra today.

Addressing a press conference this afternoon at press club, Kwatra also informed that team including Deputy CM Chowna Mein and three students would be visiting Thailand soon to study more on the topic.

Asserting that the university aims to provide value based world class education with a difference to the people of Arunachal Pradesh, he dwelled on the facilities being provided by the university to students.

Khawtra disclosed that the university build with state-of-art infrastructures, including class rooms, hostel for boys & girls, faculty accommodation, library with 60,000 books and laboratory and has appointed highly qualified educationists to offer integrated courses with field and practical training, a departure from traditional courses.

Namsai was being selected to set up AUS for its low literacy rate, mostly inhabited by peace-loving Buddhist denizens, excellent connectivity and gateway of almost 11 districts, Kwatra said adding that we intend to ensure that none go to the mainland to seek higher education of their choices as all AUS degrees are globally recognized also by UGC.

 Arts & social science, Professor, O P Sharma highlighted numbers of scholarships offered by AUS to meritorious and needy students to facilitate their higher education.

Earlier, AUS University Industry Inter-Linkage Centre Director ,Prof Trilochan Singh, an earth scientist associated with this state since 1972, lauded WEM chairman Dr Ashwini Lochan and pro-chancellor Vishwa Lochan for their sincerity to set up AUS in this remote state against all odds and brushing off various objections.
