ITANAGAR, Oct 3: The All Arunachal Pradesh Border Students Union (AAPBSU) demanded a full-fledged Directorate of Border Affairs Department and Border Task Force especially for the boundary areas during its 3rd Federal Assembly held here on Sunday.
Speaking to the media, General Secretary Todak Ngomle informed that AAPBSU has its unit in all 12 districts that share its boundary with Assam. Today we had a discussion basically on six points memorandum that has been submitted to the Chief Minister on September 25 last related to the various issues of the district that share boundary with Assam, he said.
The union is demanding a full-fledged Directorate of Border Affairs Department, separate Border Task Force especially for the boundary areas, deployment of the police force as well as the creation of Police Outpost in every boundary district, to immediately issue LPC and gun license to the people living in boundary areas for self-security and immediate return of the entire boundary area forest land reserves measuring around 805 km falling under Arunachal-Assam boundary which was earlier under the supervision of Public Works Department, informed Ngomle.
AAPBSU further expressed resentment over the lackadaisical attitude of the state government towards solving the Assam –Arunachal Boundary issue. Instead of beating around the bush, the state government should constitute Core Committee and take help from the local people who are witnesses of the Supreme Court. "State government should clear their stand, whether they will resolve the boundary issue in court or out of court, people are suffering due to their dilemma," the general secretary said.
Earlier, President –AAPBSU , Tana Sunny Tara stated that state government should immediately resolve the boundary issues and respond to the six-point memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister failing which the Union may resort to democratic movement in coming days.
