PASIGHAT, Dec 20:
Two day training cum demonstration programme on “Rodent Pest Management” was held at College of Horticulture and Forestry, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh on December 19 – 20. The programme was sponsored by National Institute of Plant Health Management, Hyderabad. Altogether 90 farmers from Taki lalung, Rune, Bodak, Sille, Renging, Mirbuk, Napit, Paglek villages and Pasighat of East Siang district participated in the training programme.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. AK Pandey, Dean, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Pasighat.
Highlighting the role of rodent pests and its economic importance in agriculture and horticulture crops in Arunachal Pradesh, he emphasized on adoption of integrated management practices for rodent pests and advised the farmers to adopt the Good Agricultural Practices for sustainable income. He also alerted the farmers to prevent the spread of China beetle in litchi crops.
Dr P. Sakthivel & Dr. T. Yella Goud, Scientists from National Institute of Plant Health Management, Hyderabad presented Recent Advances in Vertebrate Pest Management and Role of NIPHM in sustainable agriculture, respectively.
