ITANAGAR, Feb 28:  A team headed by Director, Regional Institute of Paramedical and Nursing Sciences (RIPANS), Aizawl, is on a visit to the state to explore the possibility of establishing a paramedical institute.

Arriving here at the direction of the Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, the team held discussion with Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Jomde Kena and Commissioner (Health & FW) for establishment of a full-fledged institute in the state.

Kena expressed his happiness over the proposal and advised the Director of Medical Education,T&R to discuss the proposal in detail with the officials of RIPANS and workout modalities to facilitate early establishment of such institute in the state.

The Minister was also informed by visiting team that during the last two decades more than 200 students for Arunachal Pradesh have passed out from RIPANS, Aizawl in various subjects and every year at least 15 students are admitted from the state in the institution.  

Earlier in the day, the team also visited the new block-I of the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences and Arunachal State Nursing School, Naharlagun.
