Wakro, Aug 18: Basamlu Krisikro Ama, called Tea Lady, who inspires drug addicts to turn into tea cultivators has been honoured with a gold medal on Independence Day by the state government.
 She was earlier conferred with Vasundhara North East Women Entrepreneurship Award as well as many accolades and rewards for Wakro Organic Tea. She has been a constant motivation for many aspiring tea growers in the Wakro circle. She is more praiseworthy in her effort to change the mindset of people addicted to opium.  
The gold medal is yet another feather in her cap to inspire and uplift the lot of unemployed youth of Lohit in the agriculture sector.    
Wakro is a tiny hillock town in Lohit district en route to famous Hindu pilgrimage centre Parsuram kund and is 50 km from district headquarters Tezu.
