Namsai, Oct 29: A Sensitization Workshop for Tea Garden Owners and Managers on key Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) services for Namsai and Changlang districts was held at the DC’s Conference Hall, Namsai. 
The programme chaired by the Deputy Commissioner was attended by senior officials including the Mission Director, NHM, Deputy Director, State Nodal Officer (CH), DMOs and DRCHOs, Medical Officer Incharges of Namsai and Changlang, DPMU staff, CDPO Namsai, representatives from UNICEF, Tea Estate Managers and Owners and development partners VHAI, UNDP & JSI.
Sessions included presentations by the State representative (UNICEF) on the MCH programme and by the State Nodal Officer (MCH) on health challenges among children in tea estates and the way forward.
UNICEF representative delivered an insightful session on Nutrition and Social and Behaviour Change, while the CDPO-cum-DCPO highlighted the roles and responsibilities of the Child Welfare Committee and Juvenile Justice Board, urging participants to raise awareness among tea garden workers about child exploitation and related laws. The DRCHOs of Namsai and Changlang concluded with presentations on key indicators, innovations, and the way forward.
This initiative is the first of its kind in the state, where tea garden owners and managers have been oriented on the health programmes comprehensively.
