ITANAGAR, Jul 26: The Tuting District Demand Committee (TDDC) called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu seeking the creation of a separate district for Tuting sub-division bifurcating from Upper Siang district on Tuesday last.
The delegation of more than 50 members led by Chairman Nima Sangey and General Secretary Allu Duggong submitted a one-point memorandum to the Chief Minister.
The committee first met the local MLA and Minister of Health and Rural Development, Alo Libang in the afternoon who took the delegation to the CMO.
Nima Sangey briefed the Chief Minister about the long pending demand of the citizens of Tuting sub-division for having a separate district of its own. The proposed 4210 sq. km Tuting district is peacefully inhabited by Adis, Memba, Khambas and Idu Mishmis, with more than 12,000 inhabitants under five administrative circles.
The proposed district also has one of the longest international boundary with China (about 150 Kms).
