ITANAGAR, Aug 3: The Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH) Deprived Forum in a mass meeting held recently has decided to launch a series of agitations if the government fails to handover the infamous TAH compensation scam (Potin to Bopi) to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
As part of its agitation, the forum will impose a 12-hour Yachuli constituency bandh on August 7 next as the first phase. The second phase, 36-hour bandh will start from 5am on August 14-15and third phase will mark blockade of Ziro-Kimin road for three days from August 21.
Expressing surprise over the reluctance of the government in handing over the case to CBI, chief advisor to the forum Bengia Tolum in a press conference held on Friday said that they are tired of knocking at the doors of concerned authorities to seek justice for the deprived people.
“This time we will not demand reassessment or compensation as all these days we have been cheated only and now we want nothing but a CBI inquiry into the whole scam and punish those who are linked to the scam,” said Tolum.
He said that the people of the affected area have lost faith in the district administration including the government after the news of the scam surfaced. Now we do not think that any state government investigation agency will deliver justice to us,” alleged Tolum.
Since last many months they have been demanding handing over the case to CBI to unearth the truth, but their repeated pleas for justice went unheard which now compelled them to take to agitational paths, Tolum said.
“The agitation would continue unless the case is handed over to CBI. We are even ready to go to jail to seek justice and won’t step back until our demand is fulfilled,” affirmed Tolum while threatening to launch series of dharna outside Raj Bhawan and Civil secretariat and “Chalo Itanagar March” to press for their demands.
The Forum also rubbished the reason given by the government for stalling of re-verification of the TAH stretch from Potin to Joram Top over strip plan saying that strip plan cannot be a reason for delay but is an  attempt to protect influential people involved in the scam. They claimed that they already obtained two sets of strip plan from MoRTH office through RTI.
Further terming the total compensation amount prepared at the tune of massive Rs. 80 crores for the said stretch of land by concerned authority as too high against the land value, the forum said if payment is made on the spot and walking house to house then it will not exceed even 50 crores.
