DCM reviews hydropower projects to strengthen state energy roadmap
PANGIN, Dec 17:
Minister, Textile & Handicrafts Tamiyo Taga, laid the foundation stone of the Common Facility Centre at Patum, Siang District under Integrated Sericulture Development Project, NERTPS funded by Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textile, Government of India on December 16 last.
Later, he also distributed silkworm rearing tools and appliances to the sericulture beneficiaries under Intensive Bivoltine Sericulture Development Project, NERTPS, and distributed free yarns to weavers under Chief Minister Indigenous Textile Promotion Scheme and also declared open an awareness camp on Sericulture organized with the help of Research Extension Centre, CSB, Sille.
In his speech, Taga said that the government is providing all sorts of support to women for their economic upliftment.
‘Beneficiaries need to be aware of the fact that through sericulture women folk of the village can earn by staying at home. Rearing of silkworm requires very low investment and gives high returns. Within a period of a month they can earn money,’ he said.
Common Facility Centre at Patum will provide all sorts of training on sericulture periodically and will be used for silk weaving by weavers of the area with Dhobi and Jacquard Machine. Altogether 900 weavers shall be provided with free yarns under CMITPS in Siang District.
