PASIGHAT, Mar 7:  In order to highlight the role of women and recognize their leadership in Swachh Bharat Mission and also in view of International Women’s Day, the department of Public Health Engineering and Water Supply, Pasighat Division in collaboration with Women Against Social Evils, (WASE) conducted a Swachh Shakti Saptah programme at Telam under Nari Sub-Division today.

Speaking on the occasion, Er. Tadung Padung, Asst. Engineer, Nari Sub-Division highlighted the importance of Swachh Bharat Mission and role of women in making the mission successful. He appealed all womenfolk to come forward in making their surroundings clean. 

While WASE General Secretary, Joya Tasung Moyong spoke urged the women folks and PRI leaders attending from Telam, New Deka, Old Deka, Potte villages to make their presence felt in the drive of Swachh Bharat Mission while keeping their surroundings neat and clean. 

After the programme, the women folks led by WASE team destroyed a Marijuana plantation just nearby the meeting hall after getting a tip-off from local sources and burnt down the marijuana. WASE appealed all sections of society to say no to drug, IMFL and other illicit substances.
