LIKABALI, Jul 25:  The district-level Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament kick started today at Chidu-Chigo ground, Likabali.

In the male category, GHSS Likabali defeated GHSS Tirbin in the opening match by 2-1 and GHSS Telam beat GHSS Koyu. In the female category, GHSS Tirbin outclassed GHSS Dipa by 3-0.

Superintendent of Police Lower Siang, Taru Gusar graced the tournament as the chief guest. While welcoming the dignitaries and the participants, the Lower Siang District Director of Secondary Education-cum- organizing chairman P K Lombi dwelt at length on the history behind the tournament.
