NAHARLAGUN, Jun 12: Citing indifference of the state government in disbursement of scholarships of students, Joint Interim Committee for Stipend and Scholarship today staged a dharna before the office of the Directorate of Social Justice and Tribal Affairs.
Hundreds of students from various parts of the state participated in the rally and demanded immediate release of their stipend and scholarship fee. While also issuing a firm dateline for releasing the scholarship amount and enhancement of stipend amount from existing Rs 16,400 to 30,000 from next academic session.
Speaking to media, Chairman JIC, Hilang Nima lamented that despite repeated pleas to concern authority no effort has been made till date to release the scholarship amount. ‘Government is giving only assurance after assurance,’ he added.
There are hundreds of financially limited students who are waiting for their stipend and scholarship to pay their educational liabilities, Nima said while cautioning to resort to hunger strike if action is not initiated within stipulated timeframe.
ITANAGAR, Jun 12:The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) in a press statement has appealed to the students’ of the state to refrain from organising any democratic stir on the release of pre and post matriculation scholarship for tribal students.
Appealing students’ to refrain from organising any ‘hue and cry’, a union said that it is pursuing the matter with thestate and Centre and students must have patience.
Asserting that it understands the sentiments of the students and has been working in the issuerigorously, AAPSU reiterated that the concerned department has assured to disburse the scholarship by
the first week of July.
