DAPORIJO, May 29: Continuing its protest against the state government’s decision to create Mon and Patkai Autonomous District Council (ADCs), Students Union Movement of All Arunachal (SUMAA) organized a mass protest rally here today at Daporijo, Upper Subansiri.
Hundreds of its members holding banners, placards and shouting slogan like ‘Save Arunachal’ demanded immediate revocation of the decision on creation of Autonomous District Council.

Expressing displeasure over the silence maintained by Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Union Minister for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on the issue, President SUMAA, Tagru Tame informed that ,his team has already submitted series of memorandum to both but till date no response have come.
‘Moreover the silence of both CM and MoS proves that they want to divide the State and its people by creating ADC,’ added Tame.
There is already two independent department for both Mon and Patkai region where sufficient funds are being allotted every year, moreover many other special packages, status and preferences are also given to these two regions, he asserted while cautioning that this might set a precedence for other tribes as well.
Strongly opposing the creation of ADCs, Vice President SUMAA Taje Jeke also reiterated and urged CM Khandu and MoS Rijiju not to divide Arunachal Pradesh in the name of Autonomous Council. ‘Such move is not good for the unity and integrity of the state where more than 100 of major and sub tribes live together,’ he opined.
Further, refuting the reason to claim ADC on the basis of being economically, politically or religiously deprived, Vice President opined that there are other districts like Upper Subansiri, Kurung Kumey, East Kameng where roads and other development have not yet reached. Despite that the people of these districts are trying hard to develop their area with help of State government and not on the ground of dividing and demanding ADC.
