ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The Galo Students' Union (GSU) has called for the immediate operationalization of the new extension campus of Rajiv Gandhi University at Donyi Polo Government College Kamki, West Siang District.
During a press conference held on Monday, GSU's Legal Advisor, Advocate R. Raksap, stated that the union has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, reiterating their long-standing demands for the benefit of the public and the students.
Among the key demands are the notification to the concerned department for the immediate commencement of the Science stream at Donyi Polo Government College Kamki, West Siang District, and the urgent sanctioning of a playground at Government Model College Basar, Leparada District. The GSU also called for the immediate granting of Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO) powers to the principal of Government Model College Basar, Leparada District, and the immediate transfer and posting of supporting staff at said institution.
Advocate Raksap emphasized that if these demands are not met promptly, the GSU is prepared to initiate a democratic movement in any form. He also pointed out that the GSU has submitted several representations to the Education Minister and the Commissioner of Education since December 2023, but has not yet received a positive response from the authorities till date.
