PASIGHAT, Jun 20:   East Siang District Students’ Union (ESDSU) Finance Secretary, Ojing Taying who was seriously attacked by two unidentified persons on the night of June 10 last at Niti Vihar, Itanagar succumbed to injuries at Guwahati on Monday evening. His body was brought back to his native village, Ngorlung this evening.

Reacting to the killing of its executive member without any provocation, ESDSU President Tabit Gao has written a representation to the Chief Secretary, today through Dy. Commissioner, Pasighat urging to issue direction to the police administration to arrest the culprits at the earliest and to give exemplary punishment.  The union is also going to organize a candlelight march for late Taying shortly.

While deeply mourning the untimely demise, Adi Baane Kebang Youth Wing President, Aling Pinggam has also strongly demanded for early arrest of the attackers. As per Pinggam, the car used by the culprits has been identified and a girl suspected to be involved has also been arrested. All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) General Secretary Tobom Dai has also called upon the law enforcing authorities to immediately nab the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

Effort to get the latest update on the case from Itanagar PS went in vain as concerned police officials were out on duty and unavailable for comment.

According to ESDSU sources, late Taying, a friend along with girlfriend were returning from a Bar when the culprits in an Alto car followed and overtook them and made them stopped. Oblivious to what’s in store, Taying got down from the car to talk to the boys when he was seriously attacked. His friend was also seriously injured. Reportedly, the deceased male friend had a minor scuffle with the culprits when they were teasing his girlfriend at the entrance of the bar. A grievously hurt Taying was referred to Guwahati, but succumbed to his injuries Monday night.
