TEZU, Jun 23:Deputy Commissioner Lohit, Danish Ashraf , today called upon all the HoDs of the district to come together and take up collective responsibility  to  fight the menace of drug abuse in the district through pragmatic approach.

Saying that no compromise should be made to fight the menace of drug abuse and in order to discourage the addicts from illicit drug abuse, Ashraf urged the department heads not to sideline drug addicts from getting any work under various schemes of the Government and added that, during beneficiary selection and work order distribution, preference must be given to people who pledge to come out of addiction and lead a healthy lifestyle.

The meeting was convened to discuss and chalk out action plan for observing ‘international day against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking’. After a thread bare discussion, it was decided to observe a week long programme from June 26 to July 2 next, wherein various activities to create awareness among the masses will be carried out.

Earlier, State Nodal Officer for Narcotics, Oli Koyu, elaborated the importance of observing the day particularly in Lohit district and highlighted the role of each and every department in controlling and uprooting the menace from the core.
