ITANAGAR, Aug 4: A meeting to launch the National De-worming Day (NDD) on August 27 was held here on Friday. The meeting was presided over by Special Secretary-cum- Mission Director Tapasya Raghav.
Members from Education, WCD, Panchayati Raj, PHE and Water Supply departments and senior Medical Officer of Health Dept took part in the deliberations.
Raghav urged the line departments to fully co-operate and coordinate with the health department in implementing the day effectively. Strong convergence with all the line department can ensure holistic health care and improve the NDD coverage, she added.
She asked the line departments to provide accurate data of number of students in government and private schools and number of Anganwadis which is critical for comprehensive target setting to cover all children in the 1-19 years age group.
Underscoring the importance of proper planning and preparedness, she urged the member departments to share the minutes of the meeting and write to their District Administration and counterparts to ensure proper planning for implementing the NDD effectively across the state.
One nodal teacher from both Govt and private schools should be identified and trained on NDD guideline and entrusted with responsibility, she said and suggested that the Nodal teacher identified during MR campaign can be used for same purpose also.
Disappointed with unavailability of potable water in schools, she urged the PHE Department to look into it, as it is hampering many schools’ health programmes under National Health Mission. Data of availability of potable water in schools should be shared, she said.
Dr Tana Natung, Nodal Officer, Child Health earlier briefed about the objective of National De-worming Day.
