DOIMUKH, Apr 9: The 3-week long capacity building and training programme for the state’s community volunteers and CAPF personnel on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) conducted by 12 NDRF here at its headquarters and other locations in the state concluded on Friday.
The state level training which commenced from March 19 last was spread over 6 batches. 554 community volunteers received specialised training that covered the techniques of saving lives, containing damage and various others. Specialized training was imparted to the CAPF personnel at SSB Bhairabkunda. The comprehensive acourse content prepared by 12 NDRF, Itanagar included topics like basic search and rescue, patient assessment, Basic Life Support and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), snake biting, fire safety, group exercises, etc.
There were both theoretical and practical sessions so as to build the capacity and confidence of the trainees and prepare them as First Responders to a disaster. Apart from the basics, the CAPF personnel received advanced equipment training like deep diving, speed boat handling, collapse structure search etc.
