ITANAGAR, Mar 26: While welcoming the decision of Chief Minister Pema Khandu led Bharatiya Janata Party government to popularize and promote the national language—Hindi  in the frontier state, Arunachal Pradesh Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti (APRBPS) thanked the Deputy Chief Minister and Chief Secretary and her team as well for creating budgetary provision in the recently presented annual budget of the state.

“This decision will certainly give a new dimension and hope to the youths who are pursuing studies in Hindi, beside thousands of youth who have completed graduation and post graduation in Hindi,” stated Chairman, APRBPS, Takam Sonia who has been championing the cause of Hindi language and its scholars through APRBPS, a registered society.

He claims that in more than 14 government colleges affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University, there are several thousand students who have completed graduation with Honours in Hindi but no effort has been made to tap the service of these young Arunachalees.

“Since academic session 2006-07 till 2015-16, more than five hundred scholars have completed their Masters and more than two thousand have graduated in Hindi. Likewise, this year alone, more than 300 students shall graduate with Hindi Honours,’ added Takam Sonia while emphasizing that these young scholars are not able to find suitable livelihood opportunity because of entry barrier created in the form of “English as the only language in examinations”.  Highlighting the challenges, he stated that all the job related examinations are conducted in English language alone thereby posing challenge for the Hindi scholars.

“Even Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) conducts all its written examinations in only English language; this deters the Hindi scholars from writing any of the examination. This deprivation alone has been cause of unemployment amongst Hindi scholars,’ claims Takam while exhorting the BJP President Tapir Gao and Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and CS Shakuntala Gamlin to consider Hindi as medium of writing examinations.

Terming “English only” as medium of examination as unfortunate in a state that pride itself in using Hindi as official working language, Takam urged for creation of Hindi language officer in all the departments in near future.

“We compliment and thank Khandu led government for hearing our prayers and for supporting Hindi scholars,’ Takam added.
