WAKRO, Feb 15:  Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein today while attending the colourful Tamladu festival of the Mishmis here advocated for preserving the age-old traditional systems, practices and rituals of the state.
Calling upon the youths to remain conscious of their rich culture and ethos, Mein informed that the state government will play the role of a facilitator in this regard. Speaking about the Central grant of Rs 37.87 crore for Parshuram Kund’s facelift, he said the step will boost the sources of livelihood of locals and lead to socio-economic development of the area.

Congratulating the newly elected PRI members of his constituency, Mein sought their cooperation for development of the district, while assuring that no stone will be left unturned in reaching the targets of development. Lauding the idea mooted by DC Marge Sora to create and develop green belts, Mein declared to convert the area near the Kongmu Kham (Golden Pagoda) in Namsai district into a green belt.
While urging the DC to put a blanket ban on fishing and hunting activities in the district for a period of one year so that resources can be replenished, Mein appealed all to shoulder responsibility in protecting and preserving the ecology. The DC, ZPC Dasula  Krisikro, Secretary CALSOM (Wakro) Solemso Ama spoke on the occasion.
