Indian Army conducts ‘Know Your Army’ outreach
NAMSAI, Mar 26: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein today commissioned the Manna Tea Factory project under the banner of Lohit Valley Agro Horti Industrial Cooperative Society Limited at Pathargaon.
Lauding the achievement of the double-line tea factory having the most updated brand of plant and machinery in the country, Mein appreciated the dedication of the members of the Cooperative Society. He also highlighted the benefits under the New Industrial Policy of the state that subsidizes the cost of electrification in small and medium scale industries within a limit of Rs. 75.00 lakhs to Rs 2 crores. For promotion of tea industry and for plantation of tea, a provision of Rs 10 crores has been provided in the annual state budget 2021-22, the DCM informed. He also exhorted the state’s youth to explore self-employment routes by taking up ventures in small tea growing either by forming cooperative societies or as individual entrepreneurs.
While lauding the initiatives of the Department of Cooperation for facilitating financial assistance to the state’s cooperative societies from the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), Mein advised the tea factory owners to form an association through which the genuine demands for ease of doing business can be placed. Emphasising on streamlining production costs, the DCM while citing the example of tea factories in Assam pointed out that they are running on gas but those in Arunachal are running mainly on hsd/coal resulting in less-competitive prices. The association of tea factories of Namsai district should sit together and identify their genuine problems and suggest remedial measures to the state government for subsidizing the cost of hsd/coal etc. as most of the time electricity is not available, Mein opined. Cautioning the youths to maintain distance from drugs, the DCM urged them to prove their worth of employability in the upcoming industries. Namsai district is fast becoming an industrial hub of Arunachal Pradesh because of its better connectivity and power backup facilities and it is the obligation of every individual to contribute towards creating a congenial environment for attracting investment in the district, he added.
Mein also inspected the factory which has a processing capacity of 50-60 lakh kg of green tea leaves per annum.
