ITANAGAR, Nov 22:On the directive of the Chief Secretary, the executive members of All Arunachal Pradesh Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers Association (AASSATA) were invited by Special Secretary (Education) Mitali Namchoom today to discuss the grievances and demands of the contractual teachers working under SSA, and to assured them that the government is positively deliberating in resolving their issues.
The Special Secretary conveyed that the state government is considering the enhancement
of salaries of contractual teachers working under SSA and RMSA. To this effect, the Education
Department is putting up a Cabinet Note to be placed in the next Cabinet meeting. This issue could not be placed in the last Cabinet sitting as inter departmental consultation was taking time while
following established codal formalities.
Regarding regularization of contractual teachers working under SSA, Namchoom informed the members of AASSATA that the government has every year been regularizing the
prescribed quota meant for SSA teachers. However, it is mandatory that all the teachers working under
SSA should possess APTET/CTET certificate as it is the requisite qualification for getting appointment as
a teacher in Elementary Education, she said.
The department shall strictly follow the norms and rules led down by Ministry of Human Resources Development and the Recruitment
Rules, to which the department is legally bound. Only TET/CTET qualified SSA teachers shall be
regularised on the basis of their batch wise seniority, the Special Secretary added.
While responding to exempt APTET/CTET for the teachers who have crossed their relaxation age
for getting regularized, she told the delegates that the criteria related to mandatory qualification has been framed and issued by MHRD and the state government is duty bound to follow the same.
However, she assured the AASSATA representatives that the state government will
look into the matter by taking up the matter with MHRD.
