Indian Army conducts ‘Know Your Army’ outreach
MECHUKHA, Mar 25: Addressing the 18th Foundation Day celebrations-cum-felicitation programme of the All Memba Students' Union (AMSU) today here at Chupala, State Legislative Assembly Speaker Pasang D Sona appealed the state’s student organizations to adhere to their dual responsibilities of assisting the student community and helping society in facing the pressing challenges.
“Besides being a pressure group the student organizations should be a helping hand to society,” Sona said. Advancement of technology is gradually disconnecting the people especially youths from their cultures, the Speaker observed while exhorting the youths to work for preservation of the state’s cultural identity. Lauding the AMSU for their efforts in preservation of culture, he urged them to continue their activities. Reiterating the need for spreading education among masses for overall development, Sona suggested the union to spread awareness in villages and appealed to its members to assist the administration in making the newly created district of Shi-Yomi a vibrant and developed one.
Meanwhile, expressing serious concern over reckless dumping of garbage in village areas, the Speaker appealed all to be responsible in reaching the desired level of cleanliness for promotion of tourism. Deputy Commissioner Mito Dirchi suggested the union to organise career counselling programmes for students to help them in choosing their fields of interest.
Earlier on the day, the Speaker, DC and SP jointly released the ‘Bye Laws’ of AMSU and distributed prizes to the winners of literary competitions conducted as part of Foundation Day celebrations.
