Tawang, Apr 11: In a significant step towards accelerating hydro-power development in Arunachal Pradesh, SJVN Limited has released the land compensation amount of `269.98 Crore for Etalin Hydro-Electric Project (3097 MW) in Dibang Valley.
During the review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, on Thursday at circuit house Tawang, it was informed by Raj Kumar Chaudhary, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN Ltd, that land compensation amount has been deposited in the joint account of DC & DLRSO Dibang Valley on March 26, this year. The review meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein; Chief Secretary Manish Gupta; Commissioner (Power) Sonam Chombay; Advisor to GoAP, H.K. Paliwal and Secretary (LM) A.K.Singh. The cheque for land compensation was formally presented by Head of Project (Etalin HEP) Shiraj Swan to Pagli Sora, Deputy Commissioner, Dibang Valley.
3097 MW Etalin Hydro-Electric Project was taken over by SJVN Ltd. along with four other hydro projects in Arunachal Pradesh totalling 5097 MW, after signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh on 12th August 2023. These projects are located in the Dibang Valley district and will infuse in a combined investment of around Rs. 60,000 Crores.
Speaking at the occasion, CMD SJVN, Raj Kumar Chaudhary, stated:

The project envisages construction of two dams – one on Dri River and another on Talo (Tangon) River with underground powerhouse complex located just before the confluence of Dri and Talo (Tangon) Rivers near Etalin village. The project is scheduled to be commissioned in December 2033.
