PASIGHAT, May 19:   As an initiative to forge public- army relations, the Sigar Military Station located nearby Sigar and Motum village under Mebo Sub-Division organized a formal meeting of Gaon Burahs of nearby villages at the military office today.

In the meeting, the military officials led by station Commander and Liaison officer informed the GBs about the army’s contribution during the hour of distress and need. The officials also informed they will from time to time organize career guidance counselling, free health camps, sports related competition and other motivational programmes for youths. Recruitment in army for local youths guiding/conducting mock test etc and many other benefits will be there for villagers once the military station is well set up.

“We want to bridge the gap between public and military as we are public friendly for the protection of public and nation, but we are often quashed as disgrace to commoners by some anti social elements and their propagators”, said an officer from the military station.

The officials also said that, the economy and other sectors will get a boost once the military station starts functioning. We will also contribute to the development of the area, added the officials. The village GBs showed their satisfaction after meeting the military officials and assured all possible support.
