TAWANG, Apr 28:  A day long sensitization cum orientation training on National Programme for Healthcare of Elderly (NPHCE) was convened by District Health Society (NPHCE), at the Khando Drowa Zangmo District Hospital on Friday

The programme undertakes to promote elderly healthcare, to prevent and cure non communicable diseases and infections amongst the old age and to provide rehabilitative services to them through community based primary health care approach.

"NPCHE also envisions to provide accessible, affordable, and high quality, long term, comprehensive and dedicated services to the ageing population. We are striving to build a framework to create an enabling environment for a society for all ages and desperately propagating the concept of 'Active and Healthy Ageing', said Dr Sangey Thinley, District Programme Officer (NPHCE).

EAC Tawang Lobsang Tsetan, was also present among a host of health officials.

Earlier, the house felicitated Ven. Bhikkhu Panyarakkhita (Panya Bhante), Director, Mahabodhi old age home for his distinct services towards the senior citizens.
