ITANAGAR, Sep 10: Aspirants who couldn't make it to the cut-off list of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive Examination-Mains (APPSCCE) 2020 has appealed to the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and the state government to comply APPSCCE Rules 19 as prescribed in Office Order (OM) No. 54/2006 dated 7th January  2008, thereby maintain the ratio of candidates called for  personal interviews against vacant posts should be 1:3.
The students also appealed to immediately release an addendum consisting of an additional list of 192 more candidates to fulfill the criteria of 1:3 ratio for the 111 posts as advertised by the commission.
Addressing the media at the press club here on Friday, an aspirant said as per the commission’s notification, 141 students were selected for the post of 111, which violates the specified 1:3 ratio. This actually should be 333 instead of 141 to fulfill the ratio criteria.
“This selection process is an unprecedented event as no civil service examination including the UPSC or any state civil service examinations selects the candidates without maintaining the ratio,” he said, adding that the mistake can be corrected and must be corrected immediately.
He also said, according to the provision of office memorandum 2008, the candidates securing a minimum of 33% or more marks in each paper and having secured 45% of marks out of total aggregate in written examination are eligible for the Viva-Voce test.
“Moreover, the selection committee or the commission may lower the cut-off marks of 45% to certain extent, in case of non-availability of APST candidates securing the cut-off marks,” he said.
He also made it clear that the aggrieved aspirants are not against 141 selected candidates rather appealing the commission to follow the set rules for selection.
“We have also spoken as well as submitted a copy of representation on the issue to the APPSC Secretary earlier. The secretary has admitted to certain issues in this case and accordingly assured to take up the matter,” he said.
