CHANGLANG, Feb 26: In yet another intense operation Sunday morning at Mulong village quite far from Changlang town, the Assam Rifles Changlang Battalion under the aegis of DAO division swept into action and apprehended an NSCN (K) cadre.

 

Machow Ngaimong, an active cadre of NSCN (K) was apprehended based on specific intelligence reports about his presence at Mulong Village who was openly terrorizing villagers and was on the verge of carrying out forceful extortion. The Assam Rifles Battalion immediately launched an operation, cordoned off village exit points and successfully apprehended the cadre without an iota of bloodbath. A pistol with live ammunitions was recovered from his possession. During post spot interrogation, Ngaimong admitted his allegiance to NSCN (K) faction while divulging that he has been actively risking his life for the banned outfit for last seven years.

 

The nabbing of the notorious cadre has struck a blow to the extortion activities being carried out by the cadres of NSCN (K) in the area. The operation has tightened the noose around the group and has brought relief to the local population, AR sources said.
