ITANAGAR, Jan 30:  The All Sajolang (Miji) Youths Association (ASYA) has submitted a formal complaint to the Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh, demanding re-verification and reassessment of compensation paid under the Lada–Nedo–Sarli Frontier Highway Project, citing serious irregularities in land acquisition compensation.
Speaking to the media, President Binod Sangchoju stated that discrepancies were found in compensation bills related to Package-1 (Chainage 0+000 to 16+435) and Package-2 (Chainage 113+000 to 167+750) of the project. The association alleged that compensation was issued for fake or non-existent buildings, false or exaggerated plantation claims, and payments made in the names of unknown or non-genuine landowners. President ASYA further alleged the involvement of brokers and middlemen in manipulating the compensation process.
He also pointed out that the compensation bills were verified by the District Land Revenue & Settlement Officer (DLR&SO), Seppa, and settlements were made through the DLR&SO, Bichom District, Napangphung. According to the association, these alleged irregularities have resulted in genuine landowners and affected people being deprived of their rightful compensation. The association has urged the state government to order a thorough re-verification and reassessment of the entire compensation process for the affected chainages and to initiate strict legal action against officials or individuals found involved in fraudulent practices.
Meanwhile, in a separate press conference, social activist Sol Dodum alleged large-scale corruption and serious irregularities in the compensation process of the National Frontier Highway (Lada to Sarli) project.
Dodum claimed that despite the Central Government fixing the compensation rate for bamboo/jaati at 22, the State Government is allegedly paying only 10. He further alleged that compensation for jhum cultivation has been reduced from 200 to 100, while farmers practicing irrigated cultivation are reportedly receiving 200 instead of the prescribed 300.
Calling for transparency, Dodum said he has requested the re-verification team to conduct a fresh and transparent assessment of compensation records. He also specifically demanded re-verification in the Sajolang–Miji area, which falls under Package-1 of the project.
Highlighting alleged discrepancies, Dodum claimed that some individuals have received compensation running into `3 crore, while one individual allegedly received as much as `14 crore, despite there being no legitimate scope for such high payouts under existing norms.
Both ASYA and Sol Dodum have appealed to the government to intervene urgently, stating that the matter concerns public funds, justice, transparency, and the rights of genuine landowners.
