ITANAGAR, Jun 5: Exasperated over the dilapidated condition of the approach road to the state’s lone university and also alleging government apathy towards the same, the Rajiv Gandhi University Students Union today tendered a 10 days ultimatum to the concern authority failing which it has threatened to boycott the scheduled admission process of the university.

Speaking to the media, General Secretary RGUSU, Prem Taba lamented that despite repeated pleas and submission of memorandums, the government has failed to heed the vital issue.

‘The demand for renovation of University approach road is not new, infact its become a legacy, as every year students body of the university demands renovation of the same road but it has never been addressed,’ Taba said.

Claiming that the Chief Minister has also assured to renovate the approach road, he said ‘We have been repeatedly told that all documents are in Planning department but months have passed and there is no sign for any improvement.’

While highlighting more on the issue, Former President RGUSU and incumbent Vice President (protocol) AAPSU, Tayuk Sonam claimed that a fund of Rs 6.4 crore was sanctioned under SADA of 2016-17 financial year but it was diverted elsewhere by the authority. He further urged the authority to immediately sanction the amount and renovate the said road for the betterment of both students and the public.
