DOIMUKH, May 23:Reiterating its demands for immediate construction of approach road to Rajiv Gandhi University, the RGU Employees’ Association (RGUEA), RGU Teachers’ Association (RGUTA), Officers’ Club RGU (OCRGU) and RGU Students’ Union (RGUSU) on Tuesday has appealed to the government to immediately direct the concern department to expedite the construction work for which the NHIDCL has already awarded the work order to the bidder.

In a joint meeting held today to discuss the pathetic road issue, the house also appealed to the RGU fraternity to defer the voluntary contribution for maintenance work as scheduled as the EE PWD has given his approval to start the maintenance work within 3 days.

The house also unanimously resolved to take up the issue of writing to the SDO, Doimukh and DC, Papumpare on the reasons for the depletion of entrance of the university approach road, while also threatening to launch democratic movement, if government fails to address the grievances within stipulated time.

 In the meantime it also appealed to the concerned dweller to mend/putting up culvert or CC rings beneath the entrance so that the water doesn’t get clogged in further spoiling the road in future.

Furthermore RGUSU also urged the Deputy Commissioner of Papumpare to address the traffic jam in Doimukh market in the evenings due to improper parking.
