RONO HILLS, Mar 30: Department of Anthropology, Rajiv Gandhi University today conducted a one-day orientation programme for its M.Phil and Ph.D scholars in a blended mode.
Keeping in view of the NEP 2020 which entails greater flexibility and stresses on the qualitative aspects of education, the orientation programme focussed on addressing the issue of research and job opportunities for the department scholars. It attempted to provide an opportunity and space for intellectual rigor for the department scholars by engaging in academic deliberation and discussion. Professor H Vokendro Singh and Dr. Radhe Amung from RGU’s Department of Anthropology coordinated the programme which was attended by eminent scholars from across the country as invited Resource Persons.
Professor Gregory from Kannur University highlighted the areas related to job prospects of Anthropology and provided tips on skill development in research. Professor T. Lhungdim from the Department of Education, RGU gave insights of NEP 2020 and the changes that have been included in research and teaching. Professor Sarit Kumar Chaudhuri, HoD, Anthropology, RGU shared his concerns on the limitations of NEP 2020 and the proposal of discontinuation of the M. Phil programme in near future.
