RONO HILLS, Feb 25: A meeting to decide on the implementation of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) was held today by Rajiv Gandhi University in a blended mode participated by the stakeholders, namely the Principals of affiliated colleges, officers of Directorate of Higher and Technical Education and members of Core Committee of CBCS implementation.
Registrar Dr. N.T. Rikam while elaborating on the mandate of the UGC and Union Ministry of Education for implementation of CBCS in all higher educational institutions across the country said the process of its implementation at the RGU which was halted due to COVID pandemic will be started now. We have to run fast to implement the CBCS right from the next academic session, he stressed while seeking cooperation from the stakeholders in mitigating the problems of manpower and infrastructure at the affiliated colleges.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Saket Kushwaha underscored the urgent  necessity of implementing the CBCS. Pro VC Professor and Chairman of the Core Committee on implementation of CBCS, Amitava Mitra explained the modus operandi of CBCS through a PPT, adding that the students will be having more choice while opting courses/disciplines compared to the current mode. He also informed that the process for implementation has already started and a series of exercises  including workshops/orientations are being planned to be organised. Director, Higher and Technical Education Dr. Tayek Talom appreciated RGU’s move to implement the CBCS at the under-graduate level  and assured the department will try its best to address the relevant issues including manpower and infrastructure.
All the participating Principals welcomed the initiative and assured to implement the CBCS in their respective colleges. However, most of them asked for early redressal of manpower and infrastructure issues.
