YUPIA, May 29:Minister for Urban Development, LM & Law & Justice, Nabam Rebia on Monday made a whirlwind tour of his constituency to explore the required infrastructure and land needed for immediate functioning of recently approved Divisional Commissioner West Office to be established at Yupia.
Rebia along with HoDs inspected almost all the Government Departments and land available at Yupia and observed that there are lots of building lying vacant, which can be utilised as the office of the Divisional Commissioner, after minor renovation.
During the visit, the team also took stock of under construction stadium, library office, UD guest house and other ongoing developmental works.
While expressing concern over the pathetic condition of UD guest house which is currently used by the NIT students as a hostel, Rebia directed the concern department to restore the condition of the building.
Furthermore, Rebia also chaired a coordination meeting with HoDs and discussed various development issues of the area. He exhorted the officers not to compromise in the matter of encroachment of government land by outsiders and assured to pursue the demands for establishment of Sub-Treasury office and a SBI branch in the area to highest authority.
