ITANAGAR, Jul 11: The Ramle Banggo Students’ Union (RBSU) has appealed to the state government for immediate issuance of an appointed date for the Lower Siang district in accordance with the provision of the Arunachal Pradesh (Re-organization of District) (Amendment) Act, 2013.
Speaking to reporters, Spokesperson RBSU N Nyodu said that the state government should immediately issue an appointed date for Lower Siang in line with other newly created districts like Kra-Daadi, Siang, Namsai and others.
The Union has also demanded removal of the Kora Cirlce from status-quo and to be made fully functional under the Lower Siang district.
All villages of Kora Circle including Kora, Upin, Mane, Sido and Tene are constituent villages of the 36 Nari-Koyu and New Seren Circles which was upheld in 1989 while creating the 36 Nari-Koyu Assembly Constituency based on well established historical facts and ground realities, said RBSU general secretary Goni Kaye.
He said that then East Siang district deputy commissioner had also recommended that the whole of Nari Sub-Division consisting of all four circles viz., Nari, New Seren, Kora and Koyu to be a part of Lower Siang district.
The Group of Ministers which physically visited the Kora Circle and conducted open public hearing also recommended Kora Circle to be under Lower Siang following overwhelming response of stakeholders opting to remain in Lower Siang during the public hearing, he added.
Further, the RBSU also demanded immediate declaration of a permanent district headquarters based on the feasibility report submitted by the DC Lower Siang.
