CHANGLANG, Jan 29: The whereabouts of the two workers of Quippo Oil & Gas Ltd is still unknown after more than a month since they were kidnapped by ULFA (I) from Innao in Changlang district.
Superintendent of Police, Changlang Mihin Gambo informed that search and rescue operations are still on in all strategic locations but no breakthrough has arrived. While responding to a query on the reports of the ultimatum given by ULFA (I), the SP said they have learnt it from the media that February 16 has been given as an ultimatum to Quippo to take steps for the release of their two employees. However, the Police is also investigating the matter, he said, divulging along with that higher authority from the Police Headquarters is in constant touch with the family members of both the employees and also with the company.
It can be recalled that on January 20 last, ULFA(I) released a video of the two employees recorded at an unknown location pleading for their lives and seeking help from the Chief Ministers of Bihar and Assam. Recently on January 27 last, the militant group has threatened to execute the abducted employee hailing from Bihar if Quippo fails to pay the ransom within February 16.
On December 21 last, unidentified people abducted the duo, PK Gogoi (51) and Ram Kumar (35) at gunpoint from Innao.
