NAMSAI, Feb 1: Primary and Upper primary schools across the state reopened from today after an almost 11-month disruption due to Covid-induced lockdowns.
Upper Primary School, Melankung under Namsai district recorded a good number of students on the first day. However, the teachers utilized the day in creating awareness among students on SOPs like wearing masks, washing hands and maintaining social distancing during school hours. “Following the direction of the Education Department we have recommenced the classes for the students of Classes I-VII and the first day was kept exclusively for spreading awareness about the new normal in the school,” Tator Pertin, a teacher in Government Upper Primary School, Melangkung said. We have advised the students to follow all the basic Covid protocols, Pertin added.
“We are happy that the school has reopened. Besides studies we also got the chance to see our friends after a long time,” Mibom Tayeng, a student of Class I said.
Department of Education has recently issued a notification incorporating the SOPs and directing all the schools to restart classroom-based teaching-learning in Classes I-VII.
