ITANAGAR, Aug 25: The People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) has expressed concern over the gross neglect of Pangin-Pasighat and Aalo Highway road that continues to remain cutoff for the third month.
There is a temporary construction of road as a local arrangement which is going on but that is only for light motor vehicles and is way below the standard of an all weather road. The main highway block point which has been completely washed away remains as it is since June 27, it said.
The people of Siang District feel dejected and neglected and silently feel that the state government has completely failed in its duty to safeguard and maintain an “equitable treatment of all regions in the state with equal care and promotion”, the PPA said adding that Siang district, being one of the youngest in terms of its creation, deserves better care and encouragement in all respects as it is at its formative stage.
It is disturbing to see that the main lifeline of the newly created district remains cut off from the rest of the state with no relief and aid coming from neither the highway department or the state government, secretary general PPA, Kaling Jerang said.
The people of the district are grateful to the honorable MLA and Spokesperson Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh Kaling Moyong who visited the site on his own and the public took the opportunity to submit him a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister of the state with a prayer for immediate restoration of the road. There has been no signs of any follow up action from the office of the Chief Minister till now, Jerang added.
How can the Pangin-Pasighat road which has the status of the highway road that has regularly been used by the defence personals and the BROs for decades be kept blocked for three consecutive months at a stretch on just the flimsy ground of the tender having been floated against the block point as a restoration measure, the party questioned.
PPA further appealed to all the elected representatives of Shi-Yomi, West Siang, Upper Siang and Siang District to take up the matter on priority with the Chief Minister for immediate restoration of the road without waiting any further for the tender formalities to complete. They may take into consideration the fact that Aalo- Likabali road will take much longer  time for its completion and the people from all these districts have been dependent on the Pangin-Pasighat road only so far, a statement released said.
